The Brain Charity

Lutyens Crypt in Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral lit up on December 1 to the sights and sounds of the Electro Circus, a spectacular Christmas ball on behalf of The Brain Charity. 

As the clock struck eight, the performers appeared as if by magic, to the delight of the audience of 150 people. 

Spellbinding acrobatics and contortionism from Ebony Gumbs and Kasyema Mulinge set the scene, before singer songwriter Holly Lovelady and East is East actor Ian Aspinall told the story of a circus that disappears as quickly as it arrives. 

Headline act UNE – aka Mark Radcliffe and Paul Langley (main photo) – stepped up the electro beats with a brilliant set fusing ambient cool with disco bangers, ending – appropriately enough for the Electro Circus – with a storming cover of OMD’s Electricity. 

DJ Charlotte Davies kept the electronic vibe going with an inspired set that got everyone on their feet.
