Luciana Berger, the Labour MP for Liverpool Wavertree, dropped in at The Brain Charity recently to learn about the advice and support that we give to those with neurological conditions.
Luciana spoke with staff, volunteers and service users during her visit and was particularly interested in the problems being faced by those moving over from DLA to the new PIP payment as it's a common problem that her constituents are facing. Our employment and welfare benefits team discussed the help we are able to give, as well as the guidance we can provide to both individuals and employers, which enables people to stay in work, explore new careers or retraining following a diagnosis of a neurological condition.
CEO Nanette Mellor and Chair of Trustees Bill Chambers also gave Luciana a guided tour of the building, including our extensive reference library and our newly refurbished counselling room, and spoke about future development plans for the services and recreational activities that we offer. We thank Luciana for taking time out of her busy schedule and for her offer as a local MP to help with difficulties facing our clients.
