The Brain Charity are proud to be hosting an event on Friday 15th of November that’s part of the Being Human festival of social history. This festival is the only one of its kind in the UK and will bring together universities, museums, galleries, libraries and community and commercial partners to put on activities that make research around the subject of the humanities accessible to the general public.

Dr Owen Barden of Liverpool Hope University's Centre for Culture and Disability Studies is hosting an exhibition and drop-in workshop at the Charity, between 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. At this workshop you can try out the methods used to explore and analyse findings from a digital archive of old medical books to find out about Antonia Grandoni - a woman with a learning disability who lived 150 years ago - and see what this can tell us about living with a learning disability, then and now.. The workshop will show that researching history can be inclusive, creative - and fun!

Anyone can come along and join in, no need to book, just come along on the day.

Venue: The Brain Charity
