Art Journey: Crochet
Get to grips with the gentle, rhythmic craft of crochet in this relaxing Art Journey workshop. Ideal for absolute beginners as well as those looking to refresh their skills, this session introduces you to the basics of holding the hook, creating simple stitches and starting your first small project.
We’ll also explore the Japanese art of amigurumi – crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures or objects, often featuring cute animals, food, or characters.
With guidance from our tutor, you’ll learn at your own pace while enjoying a calm, creative atmosphere.
Crochet is a wonderfully mindful activity — perfect for boosting confidence, focus and wellbeing as you watch your work grow stitch by stitch.
This class is part of Art Journey, The Brain Charity’s new creative course designed to help you explore new skills, build confidence and enjoy a wide range of arts and crafts. Each activity focuses on a different technique — from drawing and watercolours to printing, pottery and more.
The full Art Journey course runs over 18 weeks, but you don’t need to commit to the full programme. Instead, you can sign up for the activities that interest you most.
You can choose from the following activities:
- Week 1: Drawing
- Week 2: Watercolours
- Week 3: Felt decorations
- Week 4 & 5: Air dry clay and painting
- Week 6 & 7: Sewing
- Week 8, 9 & 10: Block printing
- Week 11 & 12: Crochet – amigurumi
- Week 13, 14 & 15: Stone carving
- Week 16, 17 & 18: Soft toy design and making
Some activities take place over two or three weeks, giving you plenty of time to learn, create and complete more in depth projects. If you choose a multi week activity, you will need to attend all sessions in that block, so you can complete your project from start to finish.
Places are limited to ten per class and are available on a first come, first served basis, so sign up today to avoid disappointment.
You can sign up for this block of sessions on its own or mix and match with other sessions to design your own art journey. Please let us know which weeks you’d like to attend in the comments section of the form when you sign up.
