Choose The Brain Charity as your charity of the year

Choose The Brain Charity as your Charity of the Year and we will work with you to develop a calendar of engagement and fundraising activities.

Why choose The Brain Charity as your Charity of the Year?

The Brain Charity is an award-winning organisation supporting people living with all forms of neurological conditions and championing neurodiversity.

1 in 6 people live with a neurological condition and 1 in 7 are neurodivergent.

By partnering with us, you will help us to continue providing practical advice, emotional support and social activities to people affected by neurological conditions so they can live longer, healthier and happier lives.

We have developed partnerships across sectors including legal, hospitality and care with both national brands and local Liverpool businesses.

What is a Charity of the Year partnership?

A Charity of the Year partnership is a year-long commitment from a company to support a chosen charity.

This could include:

  • Employee volunteering.
  • Office fundraising activities like coffee mornings, dress down days and raffles.
  • Challenge fundraising for teams and individuals, like marathons, sky-dives and hikes.
  • Company donations, for example from the sale of a product or as an add-on donation at point of sale for customers.
  • Providing your company’s expertise, products and time to help improve our services.

If you are an employee looking to nominate The Brain Charity as your company’s Charity of the Year, here is some wording for your nomination:

The Brain Charity (CRN. 1114999) is the only UK charity providing specialist support to families affected by all forms of neurological conditions. There are over 600 known neurological conditions, which affect the brain, spine and nervous system. While some are well-known, such as dementia, stroke, brain injury and multiple sclerosis, there are many rare conditions which affect only a few people. Being diagnosed with a condition such as syringomyelia or hyperekplexia can be frightening and isolating.

That’s where The Brain Charity comes in. They provide practical information and advice including financial and legal support. They deliver the only free counselling service in the UK dedicated to people with neurological conditions and carers. Every week, they host social activities including yoga, arts and crafts and ukelele lessons to prevent social isolation. They operate the Neuro Gym, the only free and accessible exercise space in Merseyside dedicated to rehabilitation and managing symptoms, offering free physiotherapy appointments and a variety of gym classes.

The Brain Charity also champions neurodiversity, which includes neurodivergent brain differences like ADHD, autism, dyslexia and dyspraxia. They work with schools, businesses and community groups to raise awareness of neurodivergence and give companies the tools to better support and celebrate neurodivergent staff.

Chris’ story:

Right from the start, [The Brain Charity] was a friendly and welcoming environment.

Working with The Brain Charity helps us to support people like Chris to pursue their career.

Chris, who has ADHD, came to The Brain Charity struggling with hesitation when it came to applying and interviewing for jobs.

“I wouldn’t put the application in because I’d think maybe there’s something wrong, or maybe I won’t be able to do it, or maybe I’ll burn out.”

He took part in our Value of You Confidence Coaching course, learning practical strategies to build his confidence, alongside others who shared his experience.

He found the sessions helped him to better understand and manage his ADHD to prevent him from hesitating when it comes to his career.

Chris recently received two job offers and has decided to take up a position in the Civil Service.

“The coaching hasn’t just helped me get a job; it’s motivated me to build a long-term career and aim for bigger things. I feel like I have the tools now to keep moving forward.”
