Thank you for making Head Matters 2025 a huge success
Our best celebration yet!

On March 12th, 2025, we were thrilled to welcome 188 attendees and 23 stallholders to Head Matters 2025 — The Brain Charity’s biggest open day yet!
This year’s event focused on showcasing new technology and digital innovation in neurology. It was a day full of inspiration, insight, and cutting-edge advancements in neurological care, and we couldn’t have asked for a better turnout.
We were also honoured to have the Lord Mayor of Liverpool officially open Head Matters for us.
Incredible guest speakers
A huge thank you to our expert speakers who delivered thought-provoking and impactful talks throughout the day:

- Professor Damien Coyle – AI-enabled brain-computer interfaces for awareness assessment after brain injury and neurotechnology applications.

- Alex Keyter – How people with neurological conditions can use AI to improve their lives.

- Professor Penny Lewis – Sleep engineering for health and cognition.
The groundbreaking insights these speakers shared were extremely interesting. The future of neurology is truly exciting, and we were proud to be part of the conversation.
Panel discussion: AI – friend or foe?
One of the highlights of the day was the panel discussion, chaired by former BBC Radio Merseyside host Roger Phillips. The session, featuring our guest speakers, Georgina Carr (Chief Executive of the Neurological Alliance), and Pippa Sargent (CEO of The Brain Charity), sparked a lively discussion about the future of AI.
The conversation explored the opportunities and challenges AI brings to people with neurological conditions, leaving everyone with plenty to think about for the future.
Live demonstrations showcasing cutting-edge neurotech
Throughout the day, visitors had the chance to experience some of the most innovative and groundbreaking neurotechnology demonstrations in our Neuro Gym. These included:

ONION.AI – An AI health companion app revolutionising personal health management.
ADDHERE Technologies – An ADHD diagnosis app.
University of Liverpool – MetaHumans avatars.
Spire Healthcare – Nevro spinal cord stimulation for chronic pain relief.
HMA Technologies & University of Liverpool – Exoskeleton technology demonstration.
It was great to witness how these technologies are reshaping the way we understand and manage neurological conditions.
A huge thank you to our stallholders
We were joined by 23 fantastic organisations that provided valuable resources and support for those living with neurological conditions. Their presence made the event even more special, and we thank them for their contributions.

Together, we raised £700
Thanks to your generosity, we raised £700 for The Brain Charity through café sales and tombola takings! This will go a long way in supporting our vital work helping those affected by neurological conditions.
