Broadgreen Hospital: Help when you’re admitted, help when you leave

A new neurological diagnosis often means huge life-changing challenges.

Whether you have a neurological condition or care for someone who does, The Brain Charity’s Information & Advice Officers can help.

They offer immediate practical support – from providing toiletries and self-care items to getting the financial and legal advice you need.

We can advise on managing a loved one’s affairs, and answer ‘what now’ questions. We can talk you through treatment, emergency support, employment rights, benefits and any legal issues.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by medical jargon. Our experienced and knowledgeable staff can tell you in simple language what a diagnosis means. Keeping you informed of what a future living with a neurological condition might look like.

The Brain Charity has more than 30 years of experience. We support people at 10 hospitals in the Merseyside area, at our base in central Liverpool and throughout the UK.

All our services are free to people with neurological conditions and to their families, friends and carers.

During your stay in hospital

The new reality for you or for the person you care for may suddenly feel confusing and overwhelming. Our compassionate advisors are there to listen.

We will help you make sense of what is happening and offer you the support you need to work out ‘what next’.

We have the expertise to help you fill out benefits forms and apply for the relevant grants.

We can help you understand sick pay and your rights around returning to work.

We get to know you, so we can help request the aids and adaptations for you and your home if needed.

We can offer continued support while you are in the hospital and help you plan for the future.

The first time I spoke to The Brain Charity, it was life-changing.
