What is Cerebral Vasculitis?
Cerebral Vasculitis is defined as the inflammation of the blood vessels in the brain and spinal cord.
There are two types;
Primary Angiitis of the Central Nervous System- Confined specifically to the brain and spinal cord
Secondary Cerebral Vasculitis- Occurs with other autoimmune diseases
What causes Cerebral Vasculitis?
The causes of Cerebral Vasculitis are unknown. It is classified as an autoimmune disorder. Researchers suspect that an infection may be a trigger such as HIV.
What are the symptoms of Cerebral Vasculitis?
The symptoms of Cerebral Vasculitis include;
- Severe persistent headaches
- Stroke
- Aphasia
- Seizures
- Difficulty with coordination
- Visual issues
