The Brain Charity is searching for a new CEO, with Nanette Mellor to leave the organisation after 9 years.

The charity, which is headquartered in Liverpool, supports people affected by any neurological condition – conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord or nervous system – from anywhere in the UK.

As well as championing neurodiversity, The Brain Charity provides practical help, emotional support and social activities.

Nanette said: “The Brain Charity is a strong, vibrant and fascinating place to work. The team are incredible and I know that their next CEO will be proud to call themselves their leader.

“The past 9 years have been without doubt, the most fulfilling period of my career so far and I will always be grateful for the professional development and personal growth opportunities the organisation has given me.

When Nanette took the role, the charity’s income was around £385,000 and the organisation had less than 10 staff.

Now, The Brain Charity is set to achieve income of £1.6 million this financial year and has more than 50 staff working across multiple sites in Merseyside, along with 80 volunteers.

The charity’s board of trustees is now seeking a dynamic, creative and genuinely kind leader with a strong background in social care, health or a related field to drive the organisation forward and take it to the next level.

The significant leadership role will be responsible for developing the work of The Brain Charity, fulfilling the purpose of the organisation in line with its constitution and securing its successful and sustainable future.

This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced leader to bring significant expertise of working strategically to an organisation where the voices of our service users form the basis of all strategic decision making.
